Our fortunes

We had Chinese for dinner and with Chinese food, of course, comes fortune cookies. Tonight’s were particularly interesting given the recent expected changes in our family.

Ron’s…

“Financial hardship in your life is coming to an end. Enjoy!”

Mine…

“Be satisfied with what you already own.”

Spooky. 😉

Why? Because Ron’s making more money (more being a relative term… $2 is 100% more than $1) than he has in quite a while and that big project that he helped build out the site for (nearly 2 years ago) is starting to take off. He gets a percentage of it’s sales. I just got a raise (with the new company) and have the potential to make quite a bit of money if I’m successful with my projects.

No, money isn’t everything. And, when we think about the best case scenario, we think … ooh, we’ll buy ‘x, y or z’ thing but we always come back to … let’s pay off all our debt. So, with the exception of the Seattle family trip this summer, we’ll be using anything over and above our monthly budget to pay off the NICU bills and other loan that we have.

With any luck, we’ll be debt free in a year. Ah, wouldn’t that be nice?!?!
