Merry Christmas!
Normally, kids get up really, really early on Christmas Day, to check out their Santa loot. 😉 In our case, because we slept in the basement of my parent’s house and it’s really, really dark down their, we slept in a bit later.
Joseph got up about 8:30 am and Ron the girls and I a couple hours later. The girls had a super rough night because of the lack of humidity. So none of us got much rest. 🙁
In any case, Joseph got, up played with his stuff and by the time we got up, breakfast was ready (1/2 eaten) and just as yummy as can be!
Joseph got a graphite staff (TaeKwonDo) and a pinball machine. The girls got a big play box. Here they are playing with it. Em’s in the foreground and Abby’s eating the box of another present. 😉
And here’s Emily again…
We finally got to opening presents around 11am, but only got through 2 rounds because the Yancey side had to go to church. Due to the expected lenght of the mass (1.5 hrs) we did not go. I knew the girls would not stand for it, despite wanting to get them dressed in their red dresses. 🙁 So, we waited for their return to start opening again.
Normally, presents take us through 3pm because we do one present at a time, youngest to oldest, one round at a time. So, we really didn’t get started until after 2pm this time.
Emily and Abby’s favorite part of the whole thing was the wrapping paper and ribbon. Here’s Em and Grandpa…
We were constantly “interrupted”. Either someone called (Martha for example as seen here on the phone … ) or the girls needed to be fed or put down for a nap. Or someone had to start something for the dinner for later. Due to that, present unwrapping went on… and on… and on… Em thought it was just too fun though!
Ron got me a fabulous Mother’s Ring (exactly what I wanted!) Mom got Ron push up “stands” the proceeded to test them out herself!
There were lots of “theme” presents. Stuff for Steph’s house… doubles for the girls… here are Em (with Ron) and Abby (with me) opening one of Grandpa’s special double sets…
Turns out it was two little dresses… one for the princess (Abby) and one for the missy with attitude (Em). It came with little diaper covers as well as a headband! Ron hates the headbands (I don’t hate them as you can see on Abby… ) so Em got her’s as a bow tie
I convinced Ron to put it on her head, but Em didn’t like it either! 😉
Ok… it’s not too bad!
Later in the day, everyone played with the toys and such that we’d gotten or been given.
We didn’t finish opening until after 7:30pm and even then there were some Yancey family gifts still to go! Ahhh! A fun time was had by all!
