This is the second time this has happened and we think it’s because she’s just plain over-tired.
So, after getting back from the lifegroup meeting last night (church thing) where the girls were both fussy then content, fussy then content (yes, numerous time), I took them upstairs, did the bath routine, got them in their jammies and within 30 seconds of getting Abby’s jammies on her, Em’s bottom lip stuck out and she started to scream bloody murder!
We’re talking “I broke my arm” kind of scream. Or the “I hit my head really hard” kind of scream. It’s absolutely heart wrenching.
I was useless in this case, so Ron to the rescue. He walked with her; patted her back; tried to burp her; I tried to nurse her. Every shift from upright to lay-down started her screaming again.
Ron was finally sitting on the bed with her in his arms and she started sucking on her hand (the “I’m hungry” sign), so we tried nursing her again — no luck! Her scream is INTENSE!
Since Abby (who, by the way was right there in the same room, no more than 10 feet away the whole time, nursing and falling asleep) was done, I put her in the crib and laid down with Em as if she would be going to sleep laying right next to me. That seemed to do the trick. She nursed on her side, next to me and fell right to sleep.
Overtired. That’s got to be what it is. Man, is it painful to the ears and heart! 🙁
Aimee–have you read my blog lately? It is almost like our babies are going through the same things on the same days! VERY STRANGE! We even posted at the same time one night about the same thing–to the exact same minute.
