Poor Emily! 🙁 🙁 🙁
So Emi and Abby were helping me do laundry. They pour the detergent into the cup for me. Lately though, they’ve gotten into the habit of pouring the detergent around the cup instead of IN the cup, thus creating a mini-mess.
Emi was pouring and she poured outside the cup, so I snatched the scoop away and, again, told her NOT to do that. She was peering over the edge as I tried to clean it up and in a split second, the scoop accidentally broke apart some of the detergent and it FLEW directly into Emi’s eyes.
I was horrified as she fell backwards, clearly scared out of her mind and in horrible pain. She screamed bloody murder and clutched at her eyes. I left everything where it was, grabbed her quickly and ran to the sink and as thoroughly as possible (with a 3 year old) rinsed out her eyes. She cried and cried and cried (a good thing given the situation) and we eventually got it all out.
I *think* it did more mental damage than physical. Here eyes were a bit red afterward, but I think it scared her more than anything.
Today, her left eyes has a bit of “extra” red toward the bottom, but she’s not sensitive to it or anything, so I think the rinsing did the trick.
Man oh man though … I felt HORRIBLE! Such a freak accident — just one movement on my part with her little head right in the path. Now the rule is to stay away while Mommy tries to get the detergent into the washer instead of on the side of the washer. 🙁 🙁
My poor baby!!
Don’t feel too bad. These things happen to all of us. Like the time SOMEONE forgot to put up the baby gate at the top of the stairs and I didn’t know it…and when I realized I did not hear it go up I also realized Dorian was walking towards the steps.
It happened in slow motion–me sliding on my bare knees towards Dorian while my fingers barely touched the back of his shirt as he tumbled head first down the steps.
I was scared to death he would have a broken neck, but luckily he did not. My knees, however, bled for some time.
