This was the longest wedding I’d photographed … I put in a total of 7 hours. But it was a bit different than “normal” as the bride is a friend of my Mom, from 30 years ago and my Mom was a part of the wedding … as was I from photographic perspective.
I started at 2pm and my family followed shortly after. Joseph was a mini-stand-in-assistant until I’d learned Amanda was available and had arrived. 🙂
The wedding was sooooo unique. First, the groom-to-be sang a BEAUTIFUL duet before the bridal party walked down the aisle. It was one of my all time favorite songs … though I don’t know the name. I just remember it because it is sung by Josh Groban and Charlotte Church on one of Josh’s “old” CDs. Gorgeous.
The bride and groom left in a 1937 Chevy(?)/Buick(?) that was just amazing!
We all drove to the University of Michigan at Flint where the bride is a faculty member for a huge reception. My girls had special place settings … that they were given as a gift to keep. They were a huge hit. 😀
The cake was made by a friend of the bride and groom, the food was catered and was delicious and while I was working, I also got to enjoy myself, taking photographs but also sitting with folks, eating with my family and spending fun time with my 3rd newest assistant … Joseph! He actually took my camera and went around to take a “few” shots! 😀 He seemed to really enjoy himself.
I just really love weddings. They remind me so much of my own and every one is unique … from the bride and groom down to the flowers and colors and food and place settings. They are fun to work and fun to just “be” within.
We all left about 9pm and headed back … tired but having had a very fun day.
