After our afternoon at The Henry Ford, we traveled 2.5 (instead of 1.5) hours up to Frankenmuth, MI .. for the rehearsal dinner for the wedding I will be photographing tomorrow. Actually, we stopped in Clio, MI first for the rehearsal and then made our way up.
It took 2.5 hours because we were traveling from Detroit to Clio at 5pm. DumB with a capital D!! We should have left earlier. Oh well. Hindsight is 20/20, right?
So, through rush hour traffic we went. The girls crashed which was for the best.
The rehearsal was great and then it was up to Frankenmuth. Frankenmuth is a German town nestled in the middle of MI. I remember going up there as a kid … when my Dad played softball. 🙂 I always loved the town, thought it was quaint. Now, it seems a bit … well … gaudy, but still quaint … in a more touristy-kind of way.
I would have like to have stopped and shopped, but that wasn’t our purpose. We spent the remainder of our evening hanging out in the cool, humid-less, MI air. It was cold, but Ron and I were so enjoying the clear sky and the lack of humidity that we stayed OUTSIDE as long we could stand it.
Our hosts for the evening fed us BBQ … which just makes me laugh. This makes the 4th wedding this season where BBQ (or some sort) was served. 😉 It was wonderful to sit and talk with people I haven’t seen in quite a while. Joseph found another boy to play football with and skipped dinner in the process.
The girls occupied themselves going in and out of the poolhouse and talking with everyone. Abby chowed down on beans … why the girls loves baked beans I’ll never know … but she does. Emi’s face was nicely covered in Guacamole. Yum!
Afterward, we headed to the Vrables … our home away from home for a couple of days.
