Motorcycle Hall of Fame Museum

We didn’t have time to use the pool the evening before, so we opted to skip it at this location. The kids and I all went down to the breakfast area in the morning and feasted on waffles, yogurt (referred to as “pink” and “yellow” by the girls) and Joseph’s Jimmy Dean Sausage and Egg biscuit. I love that these smaller hotels provide this free with the rooms!

After breakfast, we packed up and headed out. Now, I say that immediately after breakfast, but it was actually several HOURS later. Some member of our party (I shall not name names) tends to be slower in the mornings. 😉 I took advantage of the time to check email and make a few phone calls. Joseph watched TV and the girls played.

For lunch, we hit Uno. It was like Applebee’s … but a bit more upscale. Food was good and VERY VERY filling. Ron and I shared two dishes which was cool. The girls BOTH picked dino nuggets and I have no clue what Joseph got…. though it was devoured, that I remember. 🙂

Afterward, we headed over to our destination for the day … the Museum. The Motorcycle Hall of Fame Museum shows up on in our Atlas and in Google and as a tourist attraction for travelers. We thought we’d give it a try.

The outer building is beautiful … wood (or wood colored) and simple. It’s a multi-building complex with the museum in one part. The entire first floor of the museum is dedicated to dirt biking. The 2nd floor — or rather the basement floor is some dirt bikes and lots of crammed together motorcycles. Well … when I say lots, it was probably only about 25.

Honestly, we weren’t impressed. None of us are terribly interested in the history of dirt biking. Maybe that will change if joseph gets involved more, but we really thought this place would be about MotorCycles … not dirt bikes.

The girls (and Joseph) were able to try on gear and sit on a few bikes, which was neat … though I didn’t take a SINGLE photo! Ah! Its all in my memory. It was certainly cute. Of course everything was too big for the girls, but they didn’t seem to mind one bit. They just thought it was cool!

We departed after about an hour of looking around, oohing and aahing a bit and then deciding there just wasn’t anything else to look at. Of course we did buy our standard souvenier … a shot glass. 😀

Back in the van, we traveled the remainder of the way through Ohio to Dearborn, MI, ending up in Dearborn around 7pm. That trip was superbly long and we all felt like we’d been traveling for AGES by the time we arrived.
