We love Red Robin. Ever since we went to one in Bellingham when visiting Christina and family, we have enjoyed it as a restaurant. Well, we have one in Apex now. Woohoo!
A few days after opening (we were invited to the grand opening, but couldn’t go), we went for lunch. They messed up my and Joseph’s lunches, fixed them, after a few tries and gave us a 2 free meals coupon for the next visit. That was nice and we weren’t “harmed” by going. Strangely though, the Assistant General Manager had a face I recognized but couldn’t put my finger on it.
Literally, I kept racking my brain on the Assistant GM’s face, had it narrowed down to some help desk I worked at/on but still couldn’t place him. I figured it was just a taste of deja vue.
So, tonight, we went back to Red Robin (after our day of mulch moving) figuring we’d use our coupon, have a few drinks (Raspberry Margarita rocks!!) and relax. Joseph’s pizza came without pepperoni and the “fix” was to bring pepperonis. 🙄 My wrap came without the “signature” BBQ sauce. So I too asked for a replacement.
Scott, the same Assistant GM from last time came out, recognized us and apologized profusely again. This time, however, I ASKED him why I recognized him. He said because we worked together at TRG! Oh my goodness!
Sure enough, he worked on the Pfizer helpdesk and *I* managed that help desk for a short time — less than 2 months, before departing TRG. Because it was on the 3rd floor and I was on the 4th floor, I didn’t spend a lot of time WITH them and didn’t get to know them well. He left TRG when the help desk contract was canceled and went into restaurant management because business is booming for restaurants these days! Ok. so that mystery was solved.
He recooked the pizza — the right way. He got my food right. He got Joseph a milkshake (mmmmmmmmmmmm!) and then gave us a gift certificate (additional one) and chatted for a bit. Turns out, his girl friend works for an advertising firm in Chapel Hill, so I passed my business card on to him (2 copies — one for her!!) and told him that when wedding bells started ringing he should call me. 😉 Life is all about networking. 😉
Shortly after our chat ended, Joseph plate slid off the table, slammed into the floor and broke into a million pieces. Well not really, but it did crash and break apart. Red Robin has square tables that have folding edges that make it round for more people. Well, those edges aren’t very secure and this one was drooping a bit and down the plate went.
Ok… get that cleaned up and time to leave. All three kids have baloons — as is the norm. I am getting Abby into her seat and her balloon pops off the string and flies into lala land … aka the sky. So I told her I would go get her another. As I’m coming out with balloon #2 for Abby, Joseph goes running inside because his did the SAME thing. Go figure! Two new balloons later and we are heading home. 🙂
