Yup, Ron and I went out on a date! Ha ha ha! We went to the movies tonight, because that’s when our babysitter was available. In any case, we chose to do “funny” because, well, I was up for it. And so far, I haven’t been disappointed in a Will Ferrell movie. Think Old School — and as raunchy as it was, it was “pee-in-your-pants” hysterical too. 🙂
So, anyway, I bought tickets online and since my 6pm shoot was running a bit late, ended up eating hot dogs, m&ms and coke in the movie theatre itself for dinner. All I can say about that is “ick!” I had to get the hot dog down fast because it didn’t taste very good. 🙂 Oh well.
In any case, it was reminiscent of our high school years, so it was worth it. We were 20 minutes early, so got good seats, but by the start of the movie, the theatre was pretty full. Oh, and on that note, the movie was scheduled to start at 7:35. It started at 7:39 and there were a SOLID 15 minutes of commercials AND previews. 🙂 Enough said.
As for the movie, I have once again not been disappointed with a Will Ferrell movie. 🙂 He is absolutely HILARIOUS. Now, would I buy the DVD? Unlikely. Would I let Joseph watch it? Heck no! It was PG-13, but it was LOADED with inappropriate material for children until 13 … sheesh, for me for that matter. 😉 But, I went in with that expectation, so I was ok with it.
In reality though, all the “inappropriate stuff” amazingly had pretense and point. The movie seems to have absolutely no point, no plot even, no “learning”. Turns out, if you watch it like that, then yeah, it doesn’t. But if you pay a little bit of attention, the entire movie is pointing fingers at all the stereotypes in our world. The blonde jokes, gay jokes, the traditional rednecks, the French, rich vs. poor, rags to riches, soap operas, bad mannered kids and who’s to blame — yes, that one was SMACK IN YOUR FACE. What else? Marriage and vows, friendship, the influence of adults (without the realization), alcoholism, blatent advertising, mental instability, depression and psycho sematic syndromes. The works … this movie was full of them. 🙂
Was it worth $19 for the movie and $17 for crappy food? Yup. 100%. 🙂 Would I go see it again? Not on your life. 🙂
