There is a commercial running now for Sharpie retrackable pens. It goes like this… a woman has an older baby in her arms. She puts him down, he cries. She picks him up, he stops. The camera pans to his toes. She touches his toes to the floor, he cries. She lifts them up an inch, he stops. So, she puts him in her arms and continues on her way, using a retractable sharpie for her “chores”.
Emily was this commercial this morning … in a sense. She woke up to eat around 6am. I fed her, but I think she fell asleep pretty quickly and didn’t really eat well. So, I got up and put her in her bed about 6:30am (when I was to get up). Abby woke up about the same time, so I got her out. Em started to cry.
Got Em out of the bed, laid her on mine, next to Abby to change diapers and she stopped. Tandem fed them both until about 7am and they both fell asleep. Laid them both in their crib and Em woke up and cried.
Lifted her up (she stopped) and burped her — big burp! Laid her back down and she cried. Ugh! Laid her on *our* bed to prepare to feed her again and she fell asleep! This happened within about 60 seconds! So, I put her back in her crib. Ok… it’s not 7:20am!
Went and got Joseph up and took a shower. Guess who’s awake!!!??? Got ready and picked up Em again (Abby is still asleep through all this). So, Em stops crying again.
I get up on the bed, in my work clothes and feed Em again. She falls asleep. I put her in her crib. She crys! I get her out — she stops. I lay her on *our* bed again and guess what!? She starts to fall asleep.
So, it’s now 7:45am (time to leave!!). Unfortunately, I have to wake up Ron so he knows Em is there and can cuddle her back to sleep (happily, I might add, as I noticed her smiling as she was drifting off).
The kid just didn’t want to lay in that crib! Don’t know why, but it was obvious that it was our bed or nowhere!
