I did the unthinkable tonight … twice…
First… I went to the mall… on a Friday night… at Christmas time.
Second… I attempted to *see* Santa Claus … at the mall… with the girls!
I really vowed not to do it, but the line wasn’t horribly long (the “boys” are seeing the Chronicles of Narnia tonight) and it was just me and the girlies. They were 100% PERFECT in line. The lady in front of me even commented on them being “so good especially for twins.” Anyway… mini-vent over.
So, we waited and I pointed out Santa Claus over and over and over. We got up there and neither girl wanted to get out of her stroller seat. Normally, when I stop, they think it’s time to get out. They weren’t even strapped in. Not today though! No way, no how.
So, I kept talking to them, got in front of Santa, on my knees, on the red carpet and pointed to him… nothing; asked them if they wanted to read with Santa… blank stares; got them both out of the stroller… immediate super-glue attraction to me. I could feel them both digging their little fingers into my sweater (without making a peep I might add). So I oh so carefully placed Abby on Santa’s right knee… then oh so carefully placed Emi on Santa’s left knee (all the while still talking away) and within 1/100th second (ok… probably not that fast, but it seemed like it! ), Abby burst into crocodile tears and Emi looks at her and figures she should join in … and does.
So *that* was our Santa experience. It’s actually a lot farther than I ever got with Joseph… he wouldn’t even go near the display.
Oh… and I can’t believe I forgot this part… as they got off Santa’s lap I told them to tell him bye bye and in the cutest voices possible, out came two simultaneous “bye-byes” and two little waves and two huge grins. 😀 Santa seemed pleased.
