Joseph decided he didn’t want to ride any rides, just wanted to play games. Literally, we rode NO rides this year. Fine by us, but that meant dealing with Joseph’s sadness at each loss. He was ‘close’ on few, but close doesn’t count. 🙁
I let him play just about any game he wanted, but only once. He’d argue he could get it the 2nd time, but we all know how that goes.
He did darts into balloons, ducks where you lift one up to reveal the size of prize you will win, rings around bottle necks, ping-pong balls into plastic bowls, throwing a ball at cans to knock THEM ALL down, rings around duck heads (because they had scooters to win), shooting water at a clown face against other racers, and more darts.
At one dart game, all he had to do was get the dart into the body of the dog. He’s a leftie, remember and the guy running the game stood to Joseph’s right. As Joseph threw the dart, it went straight into the guy’s leg! Ron and I both sucked in air fast as an “Oh my gosh” response and looked at each other and the game-guy. He pulled out the dart and said “no problem… just went into my pants” then followed up with “do you really think it would have been a big deal?” and pointed to his bald head and arms COVERED in tatoos.
We were both floored. He gave Joseph another turn and stood to his left this time. 🙂 Needless to say, he didn’t win.
We went to another balloon dart game that basically let him play until he won the snake he was after … $10 in darts later, he got his snake.
All in all, Joseph won two bears, one fish (stuffed puffer fish) and a medium sized snake. That was it… out of money. Just enough left for cotton candy on the way out and our fair day was over. 🙂
