We walked through the kiddie area — stopping to show the girls a kiddie roller coaster. They seemed a little freaked by it. 😉
Joseph played a couple games and won the girls each a little bear. He was mad though that it wasn’t something bigger. I had to repeat (100x over) that these games aren’t here for people to win; they are here for people to lose.
We eventually made our way to the “Field of Dreams”. This is an interactive agriculture learning center. You enter on one side and are given a plastic bag to “pick North Carolina crops” along the path. As you walk, you see all sorts of crops grown in NC…. from peanuts, to cotton, to tobacco, to pumpkins, potatoes, etc. We let the girls out of their stroller and started with picking peanuts.
Joseph picked his 5 and put in his bag. I picked one at a time for each girl and they put them in their bag.
We moved on to see chickens (with eggs!) and then sweet potatoes, indian corn and white potatoes. Abby spotted a John Deere tractor and headed her own direction, so Em and I picked her veggies and then Emi went to the tractor and Abby picked her veggies. Really, they were just all laid out in said to make it super easy. Emi did NOT want to touch the sweet potatoe and wouldn’t pick up the other potatoe or the corn, but would take them from me.
Abby, on the other hand, added her sweet potato, picked out 2 or 3 white potatoes (although I had to put 2 back — it was a one per kid thing) and took the corn from me but wouldn’t put it in the bag. She wanted to eat it!
We took a pit stop from all the farming and rode the John Deere tractors. 🙂 Well… the girls did at least.
Emi is on the tractor, Abby hanging out (they’d already switched placed).
Eventually, we pried them off the tractor, much to Emi’s dismay. She was MAD at me. Oh well. We finished out the adventure by getting “money” for our goods at the “farmers market” and using that money to “buy” some playing cards, apples and cooked peanuts.
Afterward, we hit the traffic safety area and Joseph climbed into the big rig. Ron climbed right after him. LOL Emi wanted in, so she too climbed in and then switched and Abby joined Ron & Joseph. The girls were getting tired of strolling, so we took a drink, potty, diaper break in Dorton Arena. We shared a big lemonade — yes, the girls had their 1/5th and headed out for more fun.
