Sometimes, I wonder, “what do I really want to do when I grow up.” I think about my education… Applied Math, French and an MBA. I think about what I used to think… I wanted to start, own and operate my own daycare, because I loved working wtih kids, just didn’t want to be a preschool teacher. I had that ambition for a LONG time and it never really went away.
Then, I started working and went back to grad school and took all those entrepreneurship classes. Again, I wanted to own my own business, but I could never place my finger on *what* that business should do.
The photography idea, in my opinion, was inspiration! It combines everything I’ve ever thought into one package!
1) I focus nearly exclusively on kids
2) It’s MY business
3) I’m not going at it from a photographer’s point of view, I’m coming at it from a business point of view.
I also know it takes money to make money, so I’ve shelled out a few more dollars for membership in the Apex Chamber of Commerce, another ad in the TCE PTA newsletter and membership into the Professional Photographers of North Carolina association.
Yes, I know there are tons of photographers out there and tons of portrait studios too. So how is this different? What can’t be copied with my business model? What’s the competitive differentation? Me. 🙂 No one can copy me, my ambition, my belief that this is a God inspired route for me to take.
So, now we’ll see just how well it does. 🙂
