Today, we went to Amber’s baby shower. She and Gene are due to have a baby boy any minute (ha ha ha — not really — she needs/wants her 4 more weeks).
In any case, today was the shower and it was a lot of fun. The girls, of course, got a ton of attention, especially from a pre-teen who attended. They were carted around fed, showed the dog, walked around with, etc. the entire time. It was nice since it was just me and them… not to have to really watch them.
Brian and Becky’s girls brought two kitty cat toys and of course, I hadn’t brought anything for E&A so they were constantly trying to steal the kitty cat from Aubrey. 🙂 She was kind enough to share (she’s 4) but her bigger sister Mallory (she’s 6) was not quite as agreeable… not mean or anything, just protective. Luckily, E&A “got that” and were able to share with Aubrey.
After abour 2 hours, in the middle of opening presents of course, they were ready to go. I’ve never seen a toddler be so specific in her requests. Abby pointed to the keys in the diaper bag and said “keys”. Emi started waving and saying ‘bye bye’. Then, from behind me, I have Emi pushing me. I took a step. She pushed more. I stopped, she pushed me more… toward the front door. Abby was already at the door waving bye bye. I think they were double-teaming me! Ha ha ha.
So, I took that as the appropriate sign and we packed up and headed out. I didn’t get to see Amber open many presents, so hopefully she got lots of good stuff!
