The girls had their 15 months checkup today. They are on the mark developmentally with all other 15 month olds. Emily talks in “real” words more than Abby, but Abby is clearly the better walker. Emi can and will climb everywhere and Abby can, but doesn’t as much.
According to the measurements…
Abby is 20 pounds, 12 ounces which is the 25th percentile for weight. She’s 31.25 inches long which is the 75th percentile (thus the long-skinny designation). Her head is 44.3 cm which is the 10th percentile (so tiny heads too!).
Emily is 20 pounds even! Woohoo! That’s the 12th percentile for weight. She’s 30.75 inches long which is the 65th percentile, and her head is 44.5cm which is the 25th percentile.
They got their last shots (vaccines) until they go to kindergarten! DTP, Hepatitis B and what they call Prevnar. All standard for their age and only the Hep B was “behind” due to all the shots they got with RSV and Flu and such last year.
Words to date…
Emily… that, this, yes, no (head shaking and verbally), mama, dada, ba (ball), uh-oh (in context), fish (for goldfish snacks of course), sheesh (used in context!!), yeah, hunh?, bye-bye (a little) and night-night (a little).
Abby… sheesh (definately used in context!), un-oh (a few times), sheesh (for goldfish), mama, dada, this, ba (for just about everything else including Joseph) and bye-bye and night-night.
They understand ‘no’ and ‘yes’ very well. They also understand when we give them simple commands, like “go get your shoes” or “let’s go!”
Activities…
They love to hug and cuddle dolls and bears. They stomp their feet and dance. They absolutely love to sit in your lap and “read” books. They’ll both (but Abby moreso) go get books and bring them to you… you read a page or maybe two and they go get another. Typical toddlers. 🙂
Both are walking, but Abby absolutely refuses to walk in grass. Not sure why. Abby’s still more sensitive to stuff, like allergen type stuff and will break out in what seems to be hives or ecxema patches on occasion. Emily has never once shown that type of thing.
They are both very sensitive to other crying/upset children and are sympathy criers. 🙂
At the end of our appointment, as Dr. Todd was leaving and saying ‘bye bye’ and trying to get the girls to mimic her Emily “blew” her a kiss.
As we were saying goodbye to Nurse Molly (who was the shot giver of choice today) the girls were still whimpering in our arms and Abby, out of the clue, waves and says ‘bye-bye’ with the very clear expectation of having Molly leave so we could get outta there.
All in all it was a great appointment and the three matching neon-pink band-aids will come off in the bath tonight.
