Sure enough, the day has come. After five years of being home with Daddy, the girls are now a part of the public school system. They were tremendously excited — I was nervous. They got up at 7:45, I was up much of the night. They dressed excitedly, I kept my pace slow — hoping, without success that time might stand still.
Over and over I heard … “Mommy, is it time?” “Mommy, can we get in the van?” “Mommy? is it Kindergarten yet?”
I don’t even spend the day with them and yet, I feel like this is right of passage — going to kindergarten — changes our relationship inherently. And yet, it probably doesn’t.
Ron is going to miss them. He told them so yesterday, to which there responses were :
Abby: “I’ll send you a postcard, Daddy.”
Emily: “You can call, Daddy.”
It’s as if they are ready for this!?
More photos to come as they get OFF the bus! Their very first school bus ride ever!!!
