At the last possible moment on Friday, we got an offer we couldn’t refuse! Drop the kids off for the weekend and we’d have the “weekend off”. Well actually, I had a wedding to photograph in Fayetteville (yes, IN the heat), but that would give us the evening on Saturday and all day Sunday.
Sounded good to me!
We QUICKLY packed up the kids, who were tremendously excited about going to Grandma and Grandpa’s(!) and I drove to Winston. At the same time, Ron booked a plane and prepared to fly to Winston.
Now, the average person would say … “Why didn’t you just drive to Winston together and return together? That would be the more economical way to go.” To which, our answer would be that that would request me (Aimee) to install two car seats into my parents’ car. That, according to Ron, was going to be my downfall. 😉 So, why not just LEAVE the car in Winston? Hmmm …. that sounds good!
But then how will I get home? Ah … there in lies the problem. Two cars to Winston? Nah. One car. One plane.
So, off we went.
The van crew left around 9pm and arrived around 10:30 pm. The plane arrived about 11:30pm and we got home around 2am.
I was up and gone for the wedding at 10am and home at 6pm. Ron and I went out to dinner at Daniel’s – the italian restaurant and then vegged all day Sunday. Actually we went out to one more kid-free meal … which included no whining, complaining, trips to the bathroom in the middle of the meal, etc. and then out shopping for all the June birthdays in our family. 🙂
We watched two of the stupid-est movies ever … I don’t even remember the name of the first, but does it matter? It was on IFC (the Independent Film Channel). 🙂 The other was Feeling Minnesota — which had BIG names in it … and was HORRIBLE. Why we didn’t stop and go do something else is still beyond me.
Of course, Sunday was drawing to a close which meant back to Winston. We did stop by Haley’s graduation party since she’s been our babysitter for 2(?) years now. 🙂 And then out to the airport to return to Winston. We got there around 9:30pm and met the crew at the building with the van. Ron flew back and I drove back (obviously it couldn’t be the other way around).
A bit tired, a bit sunburn but a lot of fun … the whole group!
And now, the girls’ birthday is coming up! Woohoo! 🙂
