Every excuse in the book

I don’t know why, but Emi has decided that she’s “big enough” to sleep in our bed. Three nights now, she’s pitched the BIGGEST fit ever in response to having to go to bed. Abby, on the other hand, either just goes to bed or is nice about it all. Emi screams, cries, gets put in time out, won’t listen. Nothing.

She’s come up with some great ones as to why she can’t sleep in her bed.

“I’m big enough for your bed” … uh, doesn’t that mean TOO big??
“My bed is too small.”
“Abby is making noise.”
“The music isn’t loud enough.”
“The music is too loud.”
“The sun [overhead light] is too bright and hurts my eyes.”
“There is not light.”

Note the contradictions. 😉 These are said one after the other, of course.

“I can’t sleep.”
“It’s not night-night time.”
“I can stay up with Daddy.”
“I have to cover up Jojo.”
“My tummy is grumbling for popcorn.”
“But!”

Ok, you get the picture. It’s a never-ending battle these days!

With the rain last night, I let them crawl up in our bed, but they didn’t even want that and Emi pitched an even bigger fit, had Ron-the-patient-one yelling at her and ultimately made up a bed on the floor of our room and finally crashed somewhere around 1am.

Abby, on the other hand, wakes up in the morning and will say … “Mama? I sleeped in my bed ..aaaaaaaaaaaal night.” With a big grin. Suck up. 🙂
