Emi: “Mommy, can I have this candy?”
Me: “No. I think you had enough candy.”
Emi: “Mommy? Did you say yes?”
Me: “Nooooooo (said with some sarcasm) I said ‘no’.”
Emi: “Yes?”
Me: “Uh. No.”
Emi: “Did you say yes, mommy? Yes I can have this candy?” (said as sweetly as humanly possible)
Me: “No Emi, I said ‘no’.” (said as sweetly as humanly possible)
Emi: “Yes?”
Me: “No”
Emi: “I love when you say yes, Mommy.” (said as sweetly as humanly possible)
To which Ron and I burst out laughing. Was she even listening?
