Apparently, without warning, the Town of Apex decided to turn off our water today! Argh! They dug up our yard only to find the leak 12″ from THEIR meter, but guess what that means? That means it’s OUR problem. 🙁
So I called a recommended plumber … left voice mail.
So I called another plumber and here is how the conversation went …
Them: “Hello.”
Me: “Hi, is this xxxxxx Plumbing?”
Them: “Yeah.”
Me: “I have a water leak in my yard and my town just turned off our water. Is this something you guys can look at and fix?”
Them: “Yes … [rummaging] … ”
Me: “Ok.”
Them: “I have to fax something. Hang on a sec….[still listening to her rummage around]”
Them: “I’m going to put you on hold so I can get this going.”
Me: “Ok.”
So now I’m talking with someone who’s walked into my studio and my phone is beeping with a call coming in, but I hang on (stupidly).
Them: “Sorry ’bout that. Can I get your name”
Me: “blah blah blah” I give her my name, address, phone number, etc. “Is this so you can have someone call me with availability?”
Them: “No, I can check on that.”
Me: “Ok, when will you be able to come out?” Thinking, 5 minutes, an hour …
Them: “Let me check … [more rummaging] … tomorrow.”
Me: “Uh, no … I need someone today. I told you they turned off my water. Thanks anyway.”
Them: “Oh. Well we’re booked solid today.”
Me: “Click”
Argh! All that for nothing and what great “service”. This is the kind of stuff that irritates the heck out of me!! Why answer the phone? Why not give me some attention?
Anyway, the person that was calling while I was waiting, called three times and on the 3rd time, I answered and he’s heading over to fix it.
I’ve heard plumbers make more than Doctors … I guess we’ll see. We just need our water back on. Thanks SO much to the Town of Apex for ANY warning!!!!
