An ER, an ambulance, a helicopter, some chocolate mousse.

They really all do go together!

The new WakeMed facility in Apex had it’s “pre-open house” tonight and Ron, the girls and I attended. It was a pretty fancy “do” with live music, photographers everywhere you turned, the entire first floor completely open to everyone, food galore, wine and beer, the works!

It was really nice and a nice way to see the new building.

We got invited because Pure Expressions is a business in Apex. 🙂 The “big” open house is Feb. 2nd and I have NO intention of going as I expect it will be PACKED with kids. It’s a highly interactive, kid-friendly, BIG and well advertised open house.

So we toured the entire 1st floor … saw the ER rooms (there are 12), the waiting and reception areas, the x-ray machines the ct scan machine, the bone-density machine, the boob crushers (two of them), the lab areas, the fancy computers … all of it. Really really really nice.

I can, in all honesty say that I hope this is the last time I ever go in. 😉

Since the helicopter was outside, we, of course, had to go check it out. Emi sat in a seat, but Abby was “too scared”. Ron spent 20 minutes talking with the pilot (duh!) and sitting in the front seat. 🙂 No, I don’t think he’s really interested in becoming a helicopter pilot. 🙂

It really was a nice event. Oh … the chocolate mousse. Yum! We did stop by the dessert table as we walked around and the girls munched on a chocolate-something-or-other and I had a mousse … which I shared with my two chocolate freak daughters. 🙂
