Good Works award from Duke Medical Center

I received a phone call from Duke today. I figured it was going to be a request to go out to Duke for a NILMDTS session. This time though. It wasn’t. It was a call from the Charge Nurse in Duke letting me know that my name had been entered as a nominee for the Good Works Award that is given out 5-6 times a year to internal staff members at Duke.

Yes, you read that right … INTERNAL STAFF. I’m not on staff. I’m a volunteer and technically not even for DUMC!

So anyway, she said that Duke considers me part of their team and they’ve been incredibly grateful for my help to the families in need over the last year+. So much so that despite the “rules” this award was being given to me. 🙂

Since it’s normally an internal award, the award … a gift certificate to the Duke store, is mine, but they apologized if I am not a Duke fan since normally this goes to a Duke employee. 😆 I said it didn’t matter one bit, I was honored, completely to be given it.

How amazing things are. I have a NILMDTS family that I have seen 2x now because of one session at Rex. The hired me for the 2nd round because they wanted to work with me. I photographed a psychologist and her horse because of a presentation about NILMDTS at WakeMed. And now, Duke is honoring me with this awards.

Noone, not even me, realizes just how blessed I am by giving back so much. I know it wears on Ron sometimes, when I take a lot of sessions, but it’s worth it. It’s my “mission trip” so to speak. It’s my way of giving back something I’ve only even known to be blessed with for LESS than 3 years.

Wow. Just talk about Wow. That’s a Wow moment.
