We arrived in Dearborn at dinner time. Our hotel was very easy to find, but a bit crazy to get to. One thing we’d found so far is that our navigation via GPS is outdated. The Google directions were far better at geting us from one place to the next because our CD that contains the data is old and outdated and doesn’t have all the new roads in place.
In any case, we managed. We did have to drive through two sets of flooded road sections near Dearborn … I guess MI was getting a bit more rain than expected.
Our hotel in Dearborn was a Hampton Inn … selected before it had free wireless Internet and a mini suite. This time around Joseph got a couch-bed and the girls again got a floor. No separator for the room or anything, just a small offset space that we crammed the kids into. 🙂 Ron an I have begun to think we’ll need two rooms instead of one very soon when we travel. Oh joy! 😉
Since it was dinner time, we decided to follow rules #1, #2 and #3 and picked Roman Village — an Italian place because #1 — it was listed as a place to eat in the hotel brochure and #2 – it was highly recommended on Google — except for its service.
Well … we agree on the service. 🙁 We had to tell 3 different people that there were 5 of us and we waited a LONG time to be seated … as did the party of 9 that was ahead of us. 🙄 Go figure.
But once we sat down, we knew why this place came so recommended. It was DELICIOUS. No, beyond delicious. The food HAD to be, hands down, the *BEST* Italian we’ve EVER had. Yum!!!! It topped our restaurant in Paris, France even!
It was completely authentic, piping hot, served with the most amazing bread and salad. YUM YUM YUM! I want to fly up just for dinner sometime! 😉 Ron and I shared a glass of Riesling and truly enjoyed our dinner. I enjoyed it despite having to take the girls to the bathroom three times during the meal. 🙄 That’s for another post though. 😉
After dinner, we headed back to the hotel to sleep but decided it was pool time. 🙂
