Abby of the undead?

or perhaps Abby the poltergeist?

or perhaps Abby the possessed?

or perhaps Abby the 3 year old?

🙂

The weirdest thing happened last night. Abby woke up around 3:20am (yes, I remember the time). I got up, as is normal (it’s just that the usual is that Emi wakes up), went in to help her get back to sleep and she kept telling me that her pillow wasn’t in the right place. I had NO idea where else to put it, so I kept trying, and she was getting madder and madder and madder and screaming louder and louder, which, of course, just frustrated me to no end.

Of course, during this time, Emi is waking up. When Emi has her nightly fit Abby sleeps through it, but the reverse is never true.

So I’m *trying* to get Abby to calm down, bring her in our room and she talks to Daddy and we’re ready to try again. I bring her back to her bed and again, “something” is wrong with her pillow placement. She won’t lay down. She’s screaming and crying. She’s nearly unintelligable too.

Emi wakes up and tells me she has to potty, so I left Abby, still screaming and crying and bring Emi to the potty, which brings out Daddy. 🙂 So, Daddy works to calm Abby down. Doesn’t work. She’s getting louder and now making this weird gutteral, scream/cry/his sound as she gets herself worked up even more.

Daddy, as the more patient one, tells Mommy to leave, which Mommy gladly does. 🙂 By that time, I was about to run, run, run away!

So, I listen via the baby monitor. Abby’s crying still and jumping in her bed and not doing a thing to listen to Ron. He tries all sorts of things to get her to relax … even just a little, but just about everything sets her off. And then, she wants Mommy again. Smart thinking on Daddy’s part … “Mommy has to sleep so she can go to work tomorrow.” Phew! 😉 Then, of course Emi wants Mommy, but if Mommy appears, Abby is going to pitch more of a fit.

Ron tried laying down next to her, sitting with her, sitting with Emi and leaving Abby be and finally got one, then both, into the rocking chair with him … not without additional craziness. You see … when one rocks in the rocking chair with you, having that one’s blankie is ok. But when two rock, both must have their individual blankies and when two blankies are not present, the world falls apart. 😀

Mind you, this is all happening in the middle of the night, I felt totally helpless and for a while it looked as though Ron wasn’t going to get far either, but then, all the sudden, the calm winds blew in and Ron got Abby to sleep. Emi was still awake when he came back to bed at 4:22am, but was nearly out.

In the last few weeks Abby has grown increasingly “cranky”, scared of everything, heavily dependent on her taggy blanket and inflexible to all change. Emi, on the other hand … Emi the one we figured would be in therapy by the time she was 3 … has grown in the opposite direction … as if there were a completely different plane on which she lives from her sister! 😉 She’s the “comic” of the family, totally flexible, willing to try just about everything and game for all sorts of craziness.

Can I just say I do NOT want another night like tonight!! Abby’s sounds were so evil sounding. They were gut-wrenching, but not in a scary way, simply in a “twilight zone” kind of way. Very, very, very ODD.
