A very nice note from Joseph’s teacher

Hi Mrs. Bickers,

I hope your track out has started well. I wanted to drop you a note about Joseph and the change I have seen take place in him over the past couple of weeks. I am so proud and encouraged by the way he has come out of his shell, accept new and different responsibilities, and take advantage of what is available to him in the room. I see him participating in class. If he doesn’t understand something, he takes the initiative and asks for additional help. Today, as we labored through the hectic reality of moving out of the room, Joseph was the first in line to help. He had to have asked me what he could do 7 or 8 times. Also, today we went to write with our book buddies. In the beginning of the year Joseph flat out refused to read, work with or even talk to any of the first graders in the room. Today, he reminded me that he did not have a book buddy and I let him know that if there was something he wanted to do about that he certainly could, having no idea what his reaction would be. About 5 minutes later I saw that he had hooked up with one of our students and their buddy, and he was working with them! Three months ago I don’t think this would have happened. I am very proud of the effort Joseph has made to become apart of our room. I want to thank you for all that you and your husband have done to help facilitate this growth. The class is much better for it.
Enjoy your break.
