We did it. Literally, this was a tough one. As of today, we have not eaten out … meaning a dinner or lunch somewhere that isn’t Chez Ron and Aimee … in over 7 days. Knowing us, this is a major feat! It should go in the guinness book of world records! 😉
No, seriously. This is big for us. We just don’t “like” to cook and since the recent financial change, I knew this was one area that we WOULD have to change … drastically. So, we used 90% of the food we had in our cabinets and fridge and freezer and picked up a few things.
Two nights were quite experimental. 😀 Ron made “the worlds best pancakes” from scratch. That was the title of the recipe anyway. 😀 We added blueberries to one batch and Abby and I scarfed them down. Joseph and Emi didn’t like them. Surprised me! They (and Ron) ate the plain. All covered in syrup too! It was a great experiment!
Experiment #2 was hamburgers, a la Ron. 😉 He tried to find a recipe that included only stuff we already had and didn’t have any luck, so he improvised and created his own recipe. There was a bit “much” of one of the spices he used, otherwise, they were good too! 🙂
Then, today, I cooked ALL DAY. 😉 Actually, it was a crock-pot dinner we’ve had in the freezer for some time. I popped it in this morning and tonight, we had a GREAT dinner of chicken & dumplings. Yum!
It’s been a great change and gotten Ron (more than me!) creative in the kitchen. I think the pot rack is helping. 🙂
