I swear, we just can’t get ahead. No matter how hard we try, it’s always *something*. My 7 year old car did NOT pass inspection. It didn’t pass in a bad, bad way. It required a catalytic converter replacement. 🙁 Four estimates later and we went to Peak Automotive in Apex.
We chose them for a number of reasons … 1) they were voted the “most female friendly shop in the Triangle” 2) I met the owner 🙂 and 3) they weren’t the most expensive but also not the cheapest. $630 plus change.
Unfortunately, they were checking out other parts of my car and found that my two front tires were essentially bald. I HATE the tires on my car. It’s a family sedan, right? But Mazda, in its infinite money hungry wisdom, put SPORT tires on it. So we’ve replaced those *&^R%!@ tires more times than is the norm because they have no life!
Peak didn’t have a “cheap” alternative, so we headed over to Merchant’s Tire who did – and we had a coupon, so ANOTHER $450 for four new tires (‘cuz the back ones were on their way, but not quite as bad) later and my car can now get inspected.
Every time I think, ok … this month is going to be good, we get hit with “bills” like this. That was $1000 in ONE day for a car that Ron calls a “death trap”. Of course I can hit him back easily with his motorcycle and airplanes!!
Ugh!
