Shawn (Sean?) at Apple is a nice guy!

So the verdict is back on my Mac. Uh. Guess what? Once again the “temperature gets no warmer than any other Mac” even when apparently used at full processor capacity. 🙄 Riiiiiiiight. Ok. Whatever.

However, because things are slowing down and the power button is sticking, Shawn/Sean has graciously agreed to replace the top case, the logic board and the heat sink.

When I asked him what it would do and what it would cost, he said it might help, it’ll cost nothing as these will be considered all warranty repairs. According to Ron, there isn’t much more they can replace on the machine … this is probably it. If this doesn’t work, I’ll have to resign myself to having one heck of a hot machine! 🙂

Unfortunately, he can’t get the parts until Wednesday/Thursday so that leaves me stuck without my machine… nope! I went and got it tonight and will return it for repairs on Wednesday and then pick it up on Friday … just in time for my 10 hour day of shooting. 🙂

This has been, by far, the best Apple experience. Phone support was not helpful. Sending in to Apple was not helpful, but this guy has been very nice, listened and patient and that says a lot to me. He never argued that it was called a portable. Never said anything condescending and never disagreed with my assessment, just kept it to the facts and has offered to DO something, even if it isn’t perfect.

At least that’s a start. Given I intend to load my studio and my house with Macs (NON laptop ones) this is a good move on Apple’s part. 😀
