I have a friend who, despite the amazing job she was doing as a pregnant mom, found herself in the position that so many moms of multiples find themselves in — preterm labor. In her case, there was absolutely no way to stop the labor and her twins, a beautiful little girl and a beautiful little boy were born on July 7, 2006 at 25 weeks and 2 days gestation.
Having *some* NICU experience and being their friend, I headed down to the hospital to lend whatever support I could offer. I was blessed with the opportunity to see the little munchkins. Their boy was 2lbs 4oz and their girl was 1lb 9oz. They are TEENY TINY, BUT, they looked wonderful!
25w is REALLY early and they have a LONG road ahead of them, but I know, for a fact, that babies can make it these days — medical technology is just amazing. But they have to get through the next 2-3 months in the hospital which will be a big stress on Mom and Dad.
So, prayers for Miss Julia and Master Ronan, that they will grown and thrive and that with time, their lives will be no different than “normal”, well adjusted little toddlers, then kids, then teens, then, well you get the picture. 😀
