1 second is enough time to push the stroller off the porch…

It really is!

E&A and I went for a walk to KidsTowne. When we got back, they were mad that they had to get out, so I said “Let’s put the stroller away”; ie back in the van. So, we walked out onto the porch with the stroller. Emily was pushing it for me. I said, “wait, wait” so I could turn and close the door. In that split second, Emily did not wait, pushed the stroller and off the porch it went… with her in tow. I absolutely froze and could do nothing but watch.

If you’ve ever seen movies where it’s like it is in slow motion… that was this event. I watched as the stroller went down, Emi hung on and took four GIANT steps down the front porch steps.. 1… 2…3 …4 and landed on her butt on the sidewalk. Since she was still a bit off balance she leaned back a bit and gently bonked her head into the porch rail, but she didn’t even cry from that… just the experience of going down the steps with the stroller.

The saving grace? Joseph’s bike, that he NEVER puts up, was in the way of the stroller. So when the stroller hit it, the stroller stopped and the bike went crashing into the ground.

Scary isn’t even the word that describes the event. We were VERY lucky that she didn’t fall harder. It really was only 2-3 feet, but on brick and concrete. Yikes!

Needless to say, the door can stay open and the cat can get out if there is a next time!
