Lesson 1 for my class

And my practice shoot sucked big time! 🙁 My “backlight” idea didn’t work because I didn’t have enough light. I got the lighting right in the front, but them my camera was metering poorly (yes, yes I know user error) and it looks like I really need to learn Manual mode on my camera.

Looks like Ron’s idea of setting the little eye-hole to compensate for my deteriorating vision was a good idea. At least now my manual focused photos are in focus! LOL

The girls WOULD NOT cooperate. I’d get them in place and within 2 seconds they’d get up. Abby was playing a game with me about it… mommy place me, me stay, mommy setup and ready to take photo, me move, mommy get mad, me laugh! Ahhhhh!

Emily just cried… she didn’t want to be “placed”. And of course, whatever I tried to get them to do on my backdrop, they refused to do until they got into the room itself and then would promptly do! Ahhhhh!

I have another light on the way as well as a light meter and once I get those I’m trying again with my crew and then going to “hire out” some *real* models. Ha!
