Mad Boar restaurant

Very very interesting… 🙂

In heading down to the beach, we decided to stop and eat a nice dinner *somewhere*. Well, I-40 is about as dead as a doornail between somewhere-middle-of-nowhere-NC and Wilmington.

In Wallace though, there was some life… at least a sign for McDs, BK, etc. We decided to just suck it up and go there. As we got off the exit though, those restaurants were 2-3 miles off the highway! Yikes!

I spotted a “light” to the left and suggested Ron turn that way and it turned out to be this HUGE! restaurant called the Mad Boar. Right there off the highway with a gas station across the street and nothing else for miles in both directions.

Needless to say, it was interesting. It is 3 places in one. A ballroom, a casual dining place and an Irish pub/fine dining area. All red/cherry colored woods, deep, deep dark colors and very nice. Food was pretty good.

Ron went “safe” and got a chicken sandwich but was tempted by their hamburger — a combination of beef, pork and sausage. Hmmmm…. ? Gotta wonder if that would have been any good.

Girls enjoyed their grilled cheese and fruits and veggies from the salad bar and Joseph had (drum roll please … ) pizza. 🙂

If nothing else, it met the criteria for when we eat out on vacation… can’t be a chain we have in our local area. 🙂
