On our way out in the morning, we’d spotted the “Ride the Ducks” “ride”. I told Ron that it’d been recommended and we thought, well…. if there’s time. After walking around Seattle for numerous hours, we checked it out. It was going to be 1 hour and 30 minutes of riding, 1 hour on land and 30 in the water. I just couldn’t resist!
It was essentially a fair ride, but it was so much fun! We toured Seattle city center as a collective group with our “captain” — yes, he’s a certified captain — Lee King (ha ha ha!). He would “turn on the air conditioning” by lowering his front windshield and would ride down the road. At one point, he pulled out his super soaker and sprayed passersby! Eek!
He was a bald guy and at one point put on a 1980’s hairdo wig and turned on the air conditiong and rode down the road and it was hilarious!
The girls loved it and Joseph did too! Emily was waving at all sorts of people in the cars next to us (on land of course) and they were all waving back! She’d get all excited about it. Abby was hanging out with Ron and having a grand time, too.
We got to *see* Safeco field, some hotels, the coffee house that Frasier was modeled after, heard a bunch of history on Seattle, etc. It was really great. Then, we headed into the water!
Our Captain explained that there was this wonderful park… Gasoline park or something like that. It was a factory that blew up, so the city made it a park. It left all sorts of traces of chemicals and stuff so the 5 second rule on dropped food doesn’t apply! D’oh!
We also saw some huge(!) yachts and other boats and house boats. Little 500 sq. ft homes, on the water, that cost $500,000 or more! Whoa!
Afterward, we headed to dinner where we found out that Abby likes lemons and Emi does not!
