Abby has always been the one of our two with stranger anxiety. Anytime someone comes up to her to say ‘hi’, she breaks out in big fat alligator tears and the most pathetic sad face you’ve ever seen. 🙁
But, last night, Ron made a very interesting observation. She doesn’t do it to men! It’s only to women that she breaks out in saddness.
Here are some examples to prove it…
1 – We’re having work done on our house. Crew is all male. 3 times now, she’s watched them, laughed, giggled. Immediately at their departure, the cleaning crew comes in, all female. One lady does nothing but look at Abby and she burst into tears.
2 – Last night at dinner, our waiter is male. No problem. A female server pops by and says ‘hi’ and she burst into tears. A customer stops by, gets right in her face (ticked me off, but that’s my issue) and and she smiles at him!
See? She seems utterly afraid of women! Freud would probably have a field day with this. I can’t for the life of me understand the difference, but there must be something.
None of the people that has ever said ‘hi’ to her have been rude, mean, seemed uncaring or whatever, but she gets scared and cries almost instantly if they are women.
