Jeremy, with Lee’s Hardwoods came by today to check out the subflooring in the bathroom. He says it’s fine, but that the lack of the paper beneath the wood is partly responsible for the moisture reaching it. And, why the hardwoods around the toilet itself were so messed up (noticed upon ripping it out, not before hand).
They will sand, stain and seal, which must be done three times, with about a day between each.
Now, if you know my house at all, you know there is no way to go upstairs (or down) without stepping on the hardwoods. We have to leave it without any stepping for at least 12 hours. What to do, what to do? 🙂
We’re going to hole up in a hotel for part of the time. I got reservations at one with an indoor pool, so Joseph will be all clean and pruney after it’s all over with! Ron just has to figure out a way to setup his computer. Luckily, they have free high-speed Internet access too. And, free breakfast, so we’ll all be set! Ha Ha Ha. The best part is that it’s less than $70 a night! Woohoo!
There is a slight chance, with a little luck, that before the end of May, we’ll be completely done with all the reconstruction!
