As told to me by Ron via email….
“FYI… Emily … can crawl over the pillow barrier on the bed. She has discovered what awaits her on the other side. :-o”
So, I IM’d him…
Aimee: she didn’t fall off did she?
Ron: yup
Aimee: she ok????
Ron: oh yeah. She landed flat on her back and only cried for a few seconds.
So, then I called him…
“Em was on the bed drinking a bottle. She was doing it herself and I was just playing with her while she ate. I had the pillows up on the side of the bed [like normal] and I guess I fell asleep. All the sudden, I hear “thud” and I got up and ran over and Em was flat on her back on the floor.”
[I interjected with a “She didn’t hit her head did she?”]
“No, she didn’t. She was actually pretty far away from the bed. I figured if they ever fell they’d hit the edge on the way down, but she was out in the middle of the floor. She cried just for a bit and I checked her head for bumps and she’s fine. I guess she crawled over the bed pillow barrier.”
Of course I played Dr. and grilled Ron on all the major points… stayed awake for a couple hours after the fall…no bumps or bruises… no more crying… not super sleepy all of the sudden, etc.
Apparently she’s no worse for wear. 😉
But, there will be no more hanging out in our bed when Daddy (or Mommy) is sleepy and babies are not! We’ll be getting a super playyard this weekend no matter what.
