Last night/this morning was a nightmare for me. I am totally and completely exhausted as I’m sure Ron is as well. He couldn’t get to sleep and I couldn’t get any sleep. Ugh.
At 9pm, I got them both to sleep… walked each individually to THEIR room and put them in their individual cribs — for the first time ever. Yeah!
At 11pm, Abby woke up. I went in their room, and nursed her back to sleep in the rocking chair. That took about 15 minutes.
I expected my midnight girl to wake up, so I headed on to bed hoping for at least a few minutes of rest. I got 30 and had literally just fallen asleep when Em wokeup … 12:02 am. Like clockwork.
Of course, Abby… the lighter sleeper of the two… woke up too, so took them both and tandem fed them in our bed. Abby, however, wasn’t hungry and promptly fell asleep while I tried to get Em back to sleep. By 12:11am, they were both asleep again, so I oh so carefully took them back to their bed and crawled back in mine.
At 12:50am, Abby woke up *again* and I was just too tired to sit in the room again, so I brought her to bed with me.
Somewhere in that time, I put Abby back, because Ron came in and asked me if I had a baby with me and I did not. Obviously too tired to remember what I was doing! 🙂
But, by 3am or so, I had Abby with me again. Ron came to bed really late 3:30 or 4 or something and Em woke up… Abby was actively nursing and I was too tired to try and move, so I asked him to go get Em.
This was actually funny… I think he was tired too… I heard him on the monitor asking for Abby… and he said “Abby, I can’t find your head… oh… that’s why, because you’re not here. Hi Emily”
He brought Em in, I started to setup to tandem feed (again) and Abby fell asleep, so I pushed her over to the middle of the bed and nursed Em and gave up on the cribs for the night.
At 7am though.. when my alarm went off, Abby was sleeping and Em was awake, so I took her with me to get ready for work. I could tell she was still tired, so I tried to get her back to sleep in our bed… with Abby and Ron. Being so tired, I got fed-up and put her back in her crib, closed the door and took the baby monitor with me downstairs to get everything ready for the day.
And, guess what? Within the 15 minutes I was gone, she’d fallen asleep, in her crib, by herself. Little stinker!
