This was posted on a forum I spend time on and I couldn’t resist copying the ones that brought back specific memories for *me*.
So, let’s see…
You made baby chocolate cakes in your Easy Bake Oven
— yup! Had one. Want one for the girls too!
You owned a bicycle with a banana seat and a plastic basket with flowers on it.
— no flowers, but definately a banana seat!!
You learned to skate with actual skates (not roller blades) that had metal wheels
–I remember going skating in a school gymnasium in either Montrose or Clio (don’t remember) and skating to “Celebration” (the song).
You had nightmares after watching Fantasy Island.
— No nightmares (that I recall), but I loved that show!
Ok… this one takes the cake…
You had either a “bowl cut” or “pixie,” not to mention the
“Dorothy Hamil” because your Mom was sick of braiding your hair. People sometimes thought you were a boy.
— MOM???? What were you thinking! It was NOT cute! 😉
You spent hours in your backyard on your metal swing set with the trapeze. The swing set tipped over at least once.
— hanging upside down by your knees and trying to touch the ground. Or sliding down the hot slide because it was in the sun! Had to watch how high you were going and if the “feet” were coming out of the ground, had to slow down!
You had a pair of Doctor Scholl’s sandals (the ones with hard sole & the silver buckle).
— I didn’t, but my Mom did!
You know who Strawberry Shortcake is, as well as her friends, Blueberry Muffin and Huckleberry Pie.
— Oh yeah! And, you know what? They’re back!
Every now and then “It’s a Hard Knock Life” from the movie, “Annie” will pop into your brain and you can’t stop singing it the whole day.
— I probably watched that movie a dozen times!
You made Shrinky-Dinks and put iron-on kittens on your t-shirts!
— Total yes on the shrinky-dinks! Wonder if I can find some again?
You had a Big Wheel with a brake on the side, and a Sit-n-Spin.
— I didn’t have either, but the Vrables did and I remember playing with them a lot!
