USPS Package update

So, here is what the USPS says about the package.

Apparently, all sorts of packages open in shipment. When they do, the postal service people attempt to replace the contents and deliver. In this case, the local Consumer Affairs person believes that this is what happened.

She thinks that the contents fell out (not sure how though) and someone replaced with the chinese food. My question to her was… “But why would they think chinese food went into a formula box?”

She said the people at the USPS don’t always pay attention to the contents. I said “Why didn’t you ship it back to me then instead of shipping to the delivery address? Why wasn’t I contacted?” Her reply was that I should have been.

I said “I really don’t think those bottles could have just fallen out of the box. It was very well sealed and to get them out, someone would have had to pry open the corner and pull them out.” She said it happens all the time.

So, I said “So where is the formula then?” She said that when this happens, if they can fix it right then, they do. If they cannot and don’t know where the contents came from, it gets shipped to Atlanta.

She was going to follow-up at the USPS office from which I sent the stuff and see if anyone remembers formula falling out of a package and if so, check with Atlanta to see if they have it. Now, wouldn’t that be a kicker if they actually did?

She’s supposed to get back to me, but I bet I’ll have to follow up.

And, Tana (the recipient of the chinese food) sent me this message from her end…

I went to the post office today and the “claims” lady was not there yet. So, they had me fill out this form and told me that Karen…the claims lady…would call me back today. Well…she didn’t…so I will be calling her in the morning. I did include the claim number from your email, so I hope that will help. The post office did keep the box with the food too. So, I’ll let you know what happens.

The saga continues…
