Christmas Eve is normally full of tradition in the Decker household. This year, Steph, Grandma & Granpda, Great-Grandma Yancey, and all of us were in attendance.
Mom, Dad and Grandma went to church around 6pm ish and returned around 8:30pm and upon their return (but much later!), we sang some carols. I played the piano, Mom and Steph played the violins, Joseph counted us off and played the Ukelele (sp?), Ron sang, Emily played the piano, Dad played the kazoo and Grandma hummed the tune. Abby was sleeping off the Bickers’ Christmas in the basement already. 😉
Can you imagine sleeping through Deck the Halls, Jingle Bells, Silent Night and We Wish you a Merry Christmas as done by the group just described? 🙂
Afterward, we hung our stockings. The Yancey family tradition was always to hang a personal sock as the stocking, so we did… including the twins’ socks.
Think Santa is going to fit anything in there? 😉 In order of appearance… from left to right… Grandma Yancey, Dad, Mom, Ron, Me, Steph (she cheated and used a real stocking), Joseph (he cheated and borrowed a sock from Dad), Emily and Abby.
Joseph then got some cookies and milk and a dog biscuit ready for Santa and at least one reindeer.
We checked www.noradsanta.com to see Santa’s progress and found that he was in Maine, so Joseph headed down to the basement into his makeshift “tent” (blanket covered air hockey table) and headed off to sleep to await Santa’s arrival.
And, I in my kerchief… did the same.
