Florence Nightengale and the germ study

We studied about Florence Nightengale (I’m learning alot from homeschooling Joseph!). Did you know that Florence is named after Florence, Italy? Her parents refused to let her be a nurse because only the poor got sick and had to go to hospitals. She was finally allowed to be a nurse because she was so depressed. And, she’s the “founder” of modern nursing and hospital cleanliness.

We have a lot of thanks to give to Florence!

Anyway, as part of this study, we had to *see* how germs get passed. So, Joseph dipped his hands in flour and touched stuff around the kitchen. It really does “show” you how easily germs pass. We gave me a high five to show how they pass from people to people and finally, we washed off to show that washing is the best method to prevent passing germs.

Here are Joseph’s hands…

And, here is mine after the high-5!
