Thanksgiving Day!

The girls, Ron and I slept on the futon on the basement. Normally, we (Ron and I) love sleeping inthe basement because it’s all dark and like a cave, but the girls did NOT want to sleep in the playpen and ended up on the futon with us which then led to a lack of sleep on my part. And, they woke up a dozen times. Different surroundings, I guess.

But, in the morning, they were wide-eyed and bushy tailed, so to speak.

And so was Joseph

One big happy family! (Abby on the left)

Grandma and Joseph made homemade, from scratch, pumpkin pies this time and they were delicious! 100 times better than Ms. Smiths even! Mmmmm… I could have eaten a whole one, I think!

We all packed up and headed to the other Grandma and Grandpa’s (“Grandma and Grandpa with the sewing machine” as Joseph calls them” for Thanksgiving “dinner” about 1pm.

This time last year, the Decker side of the family was on a boat having this particular meal. And, it wasn’t even any good! This year, there was traditional fare (except somebody forgot the green bean casserole!!!!). There was mashed potatos (compliments of me), sweet potato casserole (Mmmmm…), broccoli casserole (it was actually good!), turkey and gravy, of course; salad, cranberry stuff, crescent rolls, sweet tea (and unsweet for the goofy people) and stuffing. And to satisfy my need for green beans, a can was opened and warmed in the microwave! 🙂

Then, we all sat down to eat, including the twins. This is Abby with Grandma.

Dessert, was obviously best. There were the two pumpkin pies that Joseph and Mom made, Apple pie and Cherry pie, as well as cookies and ice cream, too! That’s Em with Ron.

Of course, you know turkey is sleep inducing, but the girls hadn’t even had turkey yet — takes a few hours before that gets to them! 😉

Abby was sleeping away! I guess she was enjoying her turkey vicariously. 🙂

We ended up passing her on to me, because she is very heavy when she is asleep. And, she was truly asleep… open mouthed, drooly little thing!

Of course, there was the traditional “kids table” which Catherine is no longer relegated too! 😉

Shortly after dessert, Emily conked out, too. No turkey in her yet either! 😉

We also played a new game this Thanksgiving. It was called “guess who is who”. Mommy and Daddy got it right each time. Others didn’t fare so well. Here are the girls with the games’ originators (aka Grandma and Grandma). That’s Em with Grandma Decker and Abby with Grandma Bickers.

Great-Grandma (Ron’s Grandma) was there too and Abby hung out with her a bit!
