Last night, the girls seemed a bit extra-tired a bit earlier than normal, so I started the bedtime routine just before 8pm. Abby, we’ll just call her the good twin right now, proceeded to have a somewhat happy bathtime, nursed and conked out at 8:30pm. She slept straight to 2:00 am.
Emily, we’ll just call her the evil twin right now, 🙂 refused to go to sleep. I put her in the crib, she woke up. I fed her some more since she let out a nice burp, she fell asleep, I put her in the crib, she woke up. And, each time she wakes up, she’s not always crying, but she’s cooing and gets really loud! I didn’t want her to wake up Abby! 🙂
Since I had stuff to do and it wasn’t quite 9pm yet, I put Em on the bed, propped by pillows and folded clothes while she hung out with me. She started to look tired again, so I laid her in the crib. She cried, I went to her and said “I’ll be right back”. Did that a couple times and she fell asleep! Now, you’re thinking “that’s awesome! way to go, right?” 15 (and I mean no more than 15) minutes later, she was awake and crying. 🙁
Fed her some more and the eyes only got bigger, not sleepier! Now, it was pushing 9:30pm. I was *still* folding laundry and had lunches to make, so Em got to hang out with Daddy in the office. I wish I’d taken a picture of them, because she was sitting in his lap in the office chair, just as happy as could be!
Went downstairs, did lunches, Ron came down to watch a show and I went up to get ready for bed. It’s now 10pm. Em is still wide awake, but getting fussy a bit. You think maybe she’s tired??? Abby, I must note, is sleeping through all of this! 🙂
I went back downstairs, got Em from Daddy and brought her up. Fed her, *again* and at 11:08pm, put her in her crib… asleep. She remained there until 2:00 am when Abby woke up. Normal feeding time, so no problem.
Fed them both then and put them both back down in their crib. Em was up at 3:54am. Ugh. Now I know I’m going to be tired in the morning. Fed her and she stayed with me until Abby woke up again at 5:00am. Fed them both and put them back in the crib.
Em woke up *again* at 7:30am. Fed her and put her back. And, once again, she woke up — all smiles, the little devil! But, since she was just cooing (quietly this time), I decided to leave her be and see what happens.
Let’s just say today is one of those “I’m dead tired” kind of days. But, it’s all worth it! 😉
