In the pictures of Joseph in his Ninja and Knight cotumes, he is holding a sword. As some folks know, he’s not allowed to have swords, guns, violent equiment, etc. at all because he gets stuck on it and that’s all we hear about day in and day out, at school, at church, everywhere.
Well, after he got the sword home, he noticed that it was a little “floppy”. Meaning that the sword part was loose in the handle. I told him it didn’t matter because he was only going to use it for Halloween and the Fairy Tale Ball, so it wasn’t a long-term use toy.
He was mad and said he wanted a new one.
Well, come this morning, the sword has mysteriously been broken. It’s been snapped in half right at the point where the sword and handle are hooked together.
Joseph has “no idea” how this happened. Didn’t know it happened. Says he didn’t do it and has no idea who did it. Both Ron and I questioned him, trying to see if he’d slip up, because if Joseph didn’t delibrately break it, and neither Ron nor I did, then who? And how?
Joseph may only be 7, but he’s getting better at having a poker face. Usually though, when he’s “fibbing” he smiles, then laughs and tells the truth. This time, nothing doing. So, we go with the “I believe you, but it’s really odd” type of response.
Needless to say, he’s not getting another one until right before Halloween, because we’re not going through this again and sure enough, between Saturday afternoon and Sunday afternoon, that sword was the ONLY thing he talked about. Guess he’s not yet ready to get his stuff back.
