I’m probably jinxing us by putting that the count down may be on, but here’s it why I write that…
Today, Dr. Bidegain (the neonataologist) talked with both Ron and I. Ron, by phone and me in the hospital. She said that both girls are doing really well and that their “episodes” seem to now be limited to when they eat.
Emily, as noted in previous posts, is a chugger and just plain forgets to stop and take a breath while eating.
So, anyway, Dr. B is going to put a teaspoon of rice cereal in their formula/breastmilk to try and thicken it a bit. This will prevent them from chugging it down from the bottle. Neither girl has a problem when nursing (see other update on that topic).
They are maintaining their temperatures just fine, eating very well and have no other problems. So, now, we’re on a 5-7 day wait period.
We have to go ahead and bring in the car seat to have them do their car seat “test”; we’ve gotten their prescriptions for Reglan and Zantac filled; we’ve taken a fast-track infant CPR course as well and the hospital has ordered monitors for home use, so we’re ready when they are.
We’ll room in at the hospital for a day or two once they get the go ahead, so we can get used to the babies on our schedule as well as how to use/work the monitors.
We’re getting closer!
